todays lesson, brought to you by BEES!

This is really quite useless, but of course I think it's competely fascinating. (oh how I love useless factoids.)
Some scientist out there decided to render images of flowers to represent how insects actually see them via UV light.

All Day Buffet

Picture+1.png

I've been keeping this as a secret for the past couple of weeks but the All Day Buffet site is finally launched! Basic premise is to get FULL ON GOOD...

"alldaybuffet has nothing to do with food, yet it has everything to do with promoting and drawing upon our generation's hunger to do good. alldaybuffet connects young adults and social entrepreneurs by creating unique platforms to raise awareness, generate discussion, and inspire action. doing good shouldn't feel like a chore so we connect the things we like to do most with the things that matter most."

It's a mash-up of Good Magazine meets Flavorpill meets LVHRD. Check it out at All Day Buffet and sign-up for our email lists!

NY is full or super heroes

Maybe not heroes, but definitely super.
Yesterday, I was forwarded this site. And while many of you may not actually live in NY, you should still be able to enjoy the mainstream appreciation of the weirdness that exists here.

Check out this site.the most powerful man in the universe

And by the way. My very own DM spotted He-Man at Union Square today and has sent in his photo. Hopefully he will be posting soon. I'm so proud.

Freedom

After much consideration I have decided to spread my wings. I gave notice to Franklin Street that I am going to be exploring other opportunities. But I'm really just going to take a few months off. If anyone knows anyone or hears of any positions in DC, say around October, please shoot me an email at glenn224@hotmail.com.

Dammit, I wish I still had my RV! I could be truckin.

Hope to see you all soon.

Quests

Sounds like your friend is on a quest:

I think you're all fucked in the head. We're ten hours from the fucking fun park, and you wanna bail out! Well, I'll tell you something, this is no longer a vacation . . . it's a quest! It's a quest for fun! I'm gonna have fun, and you're gonna have fun! We're all gonna have so much fucking fun we'll need plastic surgery to remove our Goddamn smiles! You'll be whistling Zip-a-dee-doo-da out of your assholes! I've got to be crazy! I'm on a pilgrimage to see a moose! Praise Marty Moose!

I say good luck. If she wants a shot out in SF, lemme know.

a shot in the dark, maybe.

Hey guys! I'm wondering - does anybody in NYC know if there are spots for undergraduate interns in their creative department? I don't know how agencies work usually re:undergrad interns. Here is a snippet from the email I got from my friend Anna Kate:

My friend and co-intern, Matt Koulermos (mattkoulermos.com) and I are on the look out for an internship for the academic year. Any suggestions? I know most agencies (including Naked, probably) do not do an official Fall intern program. But we're happy to work for free (free! = academic credit) and we come as a team (AD and CW, once or twice a week - we're thinking Fridays). So, basically, we want to offer our youthful, trendy insights (and wear great shoes) to some awesome ad shop, weekly. For free. Did I mention that we want to work for free?

You'll notice that Matt there has a website up already --- I've set my personal deadline to catch up to 1998 and get my website up next week. Until then, my selling point is the working-for-free thing. And I fetch a mean Starbucks latte.

I met Anna Kate through my blog and have hung out with her a couple of times; she has so much enthusiasm and hunger to learn and create things. She's really wonderful... I can't speak for her friend because I don't know him, but she would be an excellent (UNPAID!) addition to any New York shop. All she wants right now is to learn and get different perspectives. She's a copywriting intern at McCann right now - she got the position over some rising portfolio-school-kids. Let me know if we can help Anna Kate!

Hope everyone is well. Favorite part of the summer? (:

Disney Launching 2 Colognes For Pre-Teen Latin Boys

Does anyone think that 4 years old is too young to wear cologne?
Article starts out like this:

Smells Like Profit: Disney Eyes Pre-Teen Fragrance Market

NEW YORK -- Forget the smell of sweat, grass and dirt. Disney Consumer Products wants young boys smelling their best. Disney is rolling out Pirates of the Caribbean- and Buzz Lightyear-branded fragrances targeting boys ages 4-11 in Latin communities. The products, which will retail between $9.95 and $19.95, will reach retail shelves by September in time for the holiday season. "Our strategy is to go after the Hispanic population in the U.S," said Johanna Mooney, director of food, health and beauty at Disney Consumer Products, Burbank, Calif. "The market is driven by gift-giving, so we will target moms and grandmothers—the primary gift-givers." ..."I think it's a fabulous idea by Disney," she said. "The products will sell well. U.S. males are slower to get into the men's fragrance arena than European, Latin and South American men. There is an untapped market with huge potential here." - Rochelle Bloom, president of the Fragrance Foundation, New York.

Absolut New Orleans

This is great.

"At the Tales of the Cocktail festival this week in New Orleans a new version of Absolut vodka is being launched. The festival is an annual event celebrating the art of mixology. For the first time, the Swedish vodka company is naming a flavor for a city. Absolut New Orleans is mango-flavored with a black pepper kick. The flavor is meant to capture the unique spirit of the city. The vodka will be a limited run of 35,000 cases and will sell for $19. The best part of the new is that the vodka is expected to raise $2 million for five Gulf Coast charities. Future city vodkas with a similar charitable aspect are planned for the future."

I can barely contain myself.

I'm taking the day off next Friday for the opening (I'm not kidding) if anyone wants to join me here in New York.

Well, we get a bunch of summer Fridays to take off, so I'm not really taking the day "off," just using one of my days...

(just thought some clarification was in order, I mean, I'm not completely stupid.)

But now that I think about it, a movie of this magnitude does kind of warrant a day off. Think about it...

Here's a funny thing spotted in this great city.

AAAA Conference

Question #1 - Is anyone going to the AAAA Conference in San Diego on August 5th? I'll be there.

Question #2 - I'm driving from San Diego to San Francisco immediately after the conference. Does anyone want to take a road trip to go say hello to Josh and Sergio?
